When choosing a round to hunt with in North America, we look to certain rounds, one of which is the 243 WIN. This is because the little round is proven at this point and it has a number of qualities that make is desirable for about everything east of the Mississippi river…and some west of it. Would you want a 243 suppressor for this rifle?

Sovereign Rifle Silencer

Silencer choices

First off, let me throw this out there. We dont make a dedicated 243 suppressor as a production item at this time.

That doesnt mean there are not a ton of options though so let’s dive right in!

The first choice would be our Sovereign. With the baffle structure designed around these high performance cartridges and pressure levels it works very well on the 243 WIN. So if you have a 243 and want to put a silencer on it, we can thread your rifle for our Sovereign silencer and it will be a perfect match. This is because the clearance around the bullet in the bore of the silencer is not enough of a difference to make a perceptible change in sound signature. It is actually a fairly common practice to use a larger caliber suppressor on a smaller caliber firearm. So the Sovereign will perform exceptionally well as a 243 suppressor because of this fact.

Amendment 7.62 rifle silencer

A more budget friendly solution for the person who doesn’t want to invest as much into the system would be something like the Amendment. The Amendment is a simpler design with the thread attachment made directly into the suppressor. This feature actually eliminates stacking tolerance issues that can come from interchangeable mount designs as it only has the firearm thread and nothing else. The next thing is that the core of the suppressor is made from stainless steel, particularly 17-4PH stainless steel, for a ultra durable design that is also very budget friendly. While being ultra durable for a rifle silencer, this also adds weight to the system over the titanium used in the Sovereign. Both of these will perform very well as a 243 suppressor though so it comes down to a balance of cost versus weight in the end.

So what would we recommend for a good 243 suppressor? Well, we would ask you if you plan to leave it on one rifle. This would lend us to recommend either the Sovereign silencer with the direct thread adapter or the Amendment silencer and then we would ask you what is your pricing requirements versus weight requirements. These are the ones where the conversation either goes down the “I need it to be light weight” road or the “I only go hunting a couple times a year” road and we would recommend the Sovereign rifle silencer for the light weight specification and the Amendment suppressor for the occasional user as it really doesnt justify the extra expense if you are going to be using it only a couple times a year.

There is a another requirement that I have not talked about yet too. Which one do you WANT… This will literally trump every other factor that I have mentioned. If you want the Sovereign rifle silencer, then by all means, that is the one to get. Dont go cheap on a rifle silencer if you are in the market for a 243 suppressor as this is a commitment that incurs considerable time and money on your part. You dont want to get your suppressor after waiting a year for it just to have buyers remorse for not getting the one you wanted to start with. At least that is my opinion on it, so take that for what it is worth. Until next time, keep your powder dry!
